This book is a sequel to Chrysalis II: Carpathian Liberty. The time period covered is roughly from the early fifteenth to early sixteenth centuries. The Vatican no longer reigns supreme, never will again, although this does not prevent it from trying to regain its prestige. Secular Cardinals rule the Church. But the Habsburgs have made a dramatic comeback to rule Europe as Holy Roman emperors. In Bathory Ungaria, the Bathorys are still the most powerful family in Europe. They are also the proverbial stone in the Habsburg shoe. In Anatolia, the Osmans have been expanding their territory and will soon be the Fourth Caliphate and only military superpower in the world. However, the Vatican still has its uses in the temporal realm for the Habsburgs. Crusades against heretics and heathens continue, but now, these wars are solely to expand the territories of the Habsburg Holy Roman Empire. Their main prize is the wealth of Ungaria. Without it, the Habsburgs cannot sustain their empire nor their imperial ambitions. The Osman Caliphate is at war with imperial Europe. Standing between these two forces is Bathory Ungaria. It's all about Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness! It's a history we are not supposed to know.
